In the world of corrugated board manufacturing, where efficiency and quality are paramount, every edge and flute matters. Today,we’re speaking with Eric Diaz, a seasoned technical expert and the Sales Manager for our Heat Transfer Additive (HTA) for starch-based glue in Latin America. With years of experience and a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges, Eric is helping corrugated plants improve performance and reduce costs.

Can you tell us about your background and role at KIVORO?
I spent 16 years with Ingredion Mexico in technical roles across various industries, with a primary focus on corrugated production. My last position there was Key Account Manager, developing sales for multinational and regional clients. At KIVORO, I lead Heat Transfer Additive’s sales in Latin America, demonstrating HTA’s benefits at plants from Mexico to Argentina.

What challenges do corrugated board manufacturers face?
Balancing machine performance, production demand, and costs is a constant challenge. Maintaining consistent, high-quality boards while reducing costs and minimizing waste is crucial.

How does Heat Transfer Additive address these challenges?
HTA is a performance additive that allows plants to produce corrugated board at higher speeds and lower temperatures without compromising quality. This results in greater efficiency and cost savings.

Can you elaborate on how HTA reduces costs?
Every plant is different, but globally, HTA trials show:

  • Grade     speed increases of over 30%.
  • Waste     reduction by 20%.
  • Steam     pressure reductions by up to 20PSI (1.4 Bar).

These enhancements optimize production processes, reduce paper consumption, and lower energy usage—delivering significant financial benefits.

How does HTA contribute to sustainability?
HTA aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by lowering energy consumption and waste. Additionally, it doesn’t compromise the recyclability of corrugated boards, ensuring sustainability from production to recycling.

What’s the feedback from plants that have tested HTA?
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with an average speed improvement of 30% achieved in just a day or two. We’re now conducting longer trials to evaluate benefits like waste reduction and energy savings.

What sets HTA apart from other solutions?
HTA’s patented technology is unique, combining performance improvements with cost reductions in a way no other additive can.

Looking to the future, how will corrugated board production evolve?
Demand fluctuations and rising production costs mean corrugated plants must focus on efficiency and cost reduction. HTA is a crucial solution for navigating these challenges and future-proofing operations.
